I have been writing on Substack for around 2.5 years now. My favourite things to put on Substack almost always involve my friends in some form, e.g. the time I interviewed my friend Neive on my old Substack about how she loves attention, or interviewing my friend Cia about how all Italians look Indian, or my end of year posts in which I make my friends do some random activity to celebrate the end of the year. For my first (now defunct) Substack I compiled all my friends’ ins and outs for 2023, then last year I got them all to send me an Image for the New Year, which I turned into a sort of digital calendar.
This year, I have put together a survey which includes both reflections on the last year, and predictions for the new year. It includes questions like this:
